Looking for Change? Start by Removing Career Politicians!

Can we agree that local politics are in need of change? That there is a need to rid our local government of corruption and political pay-offs? That we need to make tax paying citizens the priority? So, how can we bring about that sort of change? The answer is simple. We must vote incumbents and career politicians out of office. It is time for San Bernardino County voters to take charge, re-assert their collective power and replace local government officials.

Facts and data show that public officials[1,2,3] often put their personal interests and greed above the interest of the voters that elected them. They are the ones getting richer and richer the longer they stay in office. They are the ones who vote, not the way the voters want them to, but the way special interests tell them to vote. As voters we may not be able to directly control the partnership public officials have with lobbyists and/or corporations, however we can do something about the people in office.

In every political election, there are two opposing parties:

  • Those who vote to put politicians in office and
  • Those who pay to put politicians in office.

These two sides seem to drift further and further apart after each election. To resolve this problem we have to begin by voting OUT career politicians. Interestingly, this problem is not caused by any particular party, it is something shared by all elected officials. The concept of voting out incumbents and career politicians is neutral and has no party affiliation.

Our goal is for San Bernardino County voters to vote out current incumbents and refuse to elect any career politician in the upcoming June 2022 election. Replacing existing incumbents with new “non-politicians” candidates would aid in “cleaning house” and bring in people who are not yet corrupted. For this reason we created the Good Governance Pledge and presented it to candidates who are running for Supervisor.

Voting out incumbents and career politicians is a sure way to enact change. Instead of complaining about the current political situation let’s begin by shaking up the current establishment. We, the citizens, must remind our elected officials that we, the voters, put them in office and they work for us.
